Nolvadex (tamoxifen citrate) is a medicine used to treat cancer than has spread to other parts of the body. If you happen to miss a dose and it’s almost time for the next one skip the one you missed and go back to the normal dosing schedule. Nolvadex is generally well-tolerated with just a few side effects - nausea, vomiting and hot flashes. In some rare cases patients taking this medicine develop uterine cancer, ovarian cysts, uterine polyps and uterine fibroids, as well as visual problems. This drug can cause liver damage if you have any problems with your liver. Inform your doctor of the fact of having kidney disease. Nolvadex must not be combined with aminoglutethimide, bromocriptine, other cancer drugs, letrozole, phenobarbital, rifampin, blood-thinners (warfarin). Nolvadex needs to be taken on a long-term basis, possibly for several years.
